Landscape Construction Crew Leader

Position: Crew Leader

Description: The Landscape Construction Crew Leader is responsible for leading our crew that performs hardscape installation, assists other crews with lawn/plant installation, and other diverse tasks at both our residential and commercial accounts.  As the Crew Leader, you will begin by working with the owner of the company as you learn our process and standards for projects such as patios, walkways, stairs and steps, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, plantings, etc.), with the intention of being the sole supervisor in a reasonable amount of time.

Duties:

  • Ability to lead, manage, perform, and train personnel in the job-specific duties to complete each project.
  • Time management and attention to detail skills
  • Proper use of safety measures, tie-down procedures, appropriate equipment usage
  • Ability to meet with customers, engage with them during the design phase, and accurately answer any questions they have
  • Troubleshoot problems in the field as they arise
  • Assistance with company irrigation work as needed
  • Be prepared and equipped to work each day in all weather (rain gear provided by company)
  • Understanding of “Call before you Dig” procedures, and safe operation of heavy equipment near marked utilities

Requirements:

  • 3 or more years of experience in a crew leader position in a landscape construction company.
  • 5 or more years of experience constructing and installing patios, walkways, retaining walls, planting, etc.
  • Proper operation of the following
    • Loader
    • Skid Steer
    • Mini Excavator
    • Other small tools/hand tolls associated with hardscaping and landscape installation
  • Ability to supervise a crew of 2-4 employees
  • Expertise in reading, understanding, and executing blueprint designs and requirements
  • Capacity for independent and cooperative work
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record
  • Valid DOT Physical certificate

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in communicating with vendors regarding product ordering
  • Proper project budget management
  • Snow removal experience using heavy equipment, plow and sander
  • Aspirations to learn and grow within this role at the company

Description: The Landscape Construction Crew Member is responsible for assisting with hardscape installation, lawn/plant installation, and other diverse tasks at both our residential and commercial accounts.  As a Crew Member, you would report directly to the Landscape Construction Crew Supervisor, who will be on-site working with you to achieve the outstanding level of performance and satisfaction that Bluestone Landscapes is known for. 

Duties:

  • Assist with hardscape installation from initial excavation through finished product
  • Assistance with irrigation system adjustments
  • Knowledge of landscape construction processes
  • Troubleshoot problems in the field as they arise
  • Focus on attention to detail
  • Learn from the owner and crew leader’s expertise while in the field
  • Able to drive truck and trailer and operate necessary equipment, tools, and machinery
  • Be prepared and equipped to work each day in all weather (rain gear provided by company)

Requirements:

  • Proper operation of the following:
    • Loader
    • Skid Steer
    • Other smaller tools/hand tools associated with hardscaping and landscape installation
  • Ability to spend the day in the cab of a machine or on the ground working depending on the needs to the job that day.
  • Experience with and knowledge of proper procedures for hardscape construction
  • Capacity for independent and cooperative work
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3+ years on a hardscape installation crew
  • Fully proficient with duties in and outside of machines for all hardscape work
  • Ambitions to become crew supervisor and demonstrated experience with this level of responsibility.
  • Extensive knowledge of proper hardscape practices, diversity of landscape industry knowledge
  • Snow removal experience using heavy equipment, plow and sander

Lawn Maintenance Crew Leader

Position: Crew Leader

Description: The Lawn Maintenance Crew Leader is responsible for managing the crew that performs weekly care and maintenance of both our residential and commercial accounts.  As a Crew Leader, you will be on-site working with your crew to achieve the outstanding level of performance and satisfaction that Bluestone Landscapes is known for.

Duties:

  • Completion of all contracted work on each property visited during the week
  • Understanding of lawn maintenance process to ensure high-quality work and customer satisfaction
  • Troubleshooting any problems that might arise in the field
  • Focus on attention to detail
  • Able to drive truck and trailer
  • Operate mowers, weedwhackers, and blowers efficiently over the course of the entire workday
  • Be prepared and equipped to work each day in all weather (rain gear provided by company)
  • Overseeing every job site worked on to be sure that the property is up to Bluestone Landscape standards and that of the client
  • Organization of weekly schedules
  • Maintenance of trucks and equipment.
  • Initial and final walkthroughs on each property

Requirements:

  • 2 years as a lawn maintenance crew leader
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience in operating the following
    • Zero-turn mower
    • Hydraulic or belt walk behind mower
    • Push mower
    • Weedwhacker
    • Backpack blower
    • Various hand tools
  • Knowledge of professional standards for lawn maintenance on both higher-end commercial accounts as well as residential properties
  • Ability to sustain energy level throughout entirety of workday
  • Capacity for independent and cooperative work
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience leading weekly lawn maintenance crew
  • Snow removal experience preferred for winter work
